Department Overview

       The Department of Computer Applications was established in the year 2007. The Department offers Post Graduate Degree course titled as “Master of Computer Applications”. The department offers this course as 3 years (6 Semester) duration and recently for the last acadamic year the Higher Education of Andhra Pradesh state govenmnet intiates  2 Years (4 Semesters- MCA Lateral entry scheme also through ICET) and whoever is having BCA/B.S.C (Computer science) specliazation they are eligible under this MCA Lateral entry scheme.  

The Department of MCA was established in 2007. The courses offered by the department focuses on preparing students for a global career in computing by enriching the curriculum with the blend of theory and practice. Students are trained in the fields of Application Software Development, Enterprise Resource Planning, Mobile development, Data Mining &Warehousing etc.

The Department also nurtures competent professionals through real-world project and foster continuous-learning.

Accreditation, Approvals and Recognition:

      The Department of Computer Applications is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Kakinada in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. BVCITS is also one of the topmost colleges awarded with NAAC B+ grade in the year 2016.

What is MCA?

     Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a three-year (six semesters) professional Master’s Degree in computer science awarded in India. The course was designed to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals in the field of Information Technology. It is a postgraduate course that can be taken up after obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree. The MCA programme is inclined more toward Application Development and thus has more emphasis on latest programming language and tools to develop better and faster applications.

Duration of MCA and What is Covers

     Typically,an MCA is a full-time degree course with a duration of three years (six semesters). It covers various aspects of computational theory,programming, algorithm design and optimization, network and database management, mobile technologies, electronics, mathematics, probability,statistics, accounting, finance, etc. Some institutes provide a six years (eleven semesters and six months On Job Training) integrated MCA.

      As the IT and the software industry are dynamic and fast growing, all the programmes are designed keeping in view the requirements of industry.
